Identify Milk Quality Challenges and Opportunities
Posted by Michele Barrett

When it comes to milk quality, dairies constantly face challenges stemming from issues related to milking machine function, environmental hurdles, levels of immunity and pathogen pressures. Complications associated with these factors can lead to losses in milk yield and quality and affect other aspects of farm productivity. The human component cannot be overlooked either, as workers’ morale and interest in cow well-being play a major role in the success of a dairy farm.

For these reasons, it is important for farm management to assess areas of strength and opportunity to work toward higher milk quality and production goals.

Check out this video to hear Daryl Nydam, DVM, PhD, Director of Quality Milk Production Services in the Department of Population Medicine and Diagnostic Sciences at Cornell University College of Veterinary Medicine, talk more about dairy industry challenges and improvement opportunities for farms.
